Weeks of February 17- February 28

Math:
  • Count mixed coins
  • solve word problems using multiple strategies and explain their thinking
  • add/subtract money amounts
  • show different ways to make the same amount of money
  • Stanford 10 prep


Language Arts:
  • Read fiction and nonfiction text and identify the main idea and supporting details
  • Read and write poems (learn about rhythm, rhyme, alliterations)
  • Locate facts while reading
  • Stanford 10 prep

Science:
  • Identify different states of matter (solids, liquids, gases)
  • Conduct matter labs (solid and liquid lab)

Math:
  • Count mixed coins and bills
  • Solve addition and subtraction money word problems
  • Show the same amount of money using different coins


Language Arts:
  • Identify the main idea and supporting details in fiction and nonfiction text
  • Write an acrostic poem 
  • Publish their small moments in StoryKit


Science:
  • Draw and explain why the Earth has seasons
  • Draw and describe 4 cloud types (cirrus, stratus, cumulus, cumulonimbus) 
  • Begin looking at the 3 states of matter (solids, liquids, and gases)
*Class Valentine's Day Party: February 14th 10:15-11:15 

*Please have your child bring his/her box and Valentines to school Thursday Feb. 13
