Weeks of March 17- March 28

PLEASE remember your Math Madness packet on Wednesday March 19!  We will be taking the Math Madness in class between March 19th and March 21st! 

Field Trip to the Desert Museum Thursday March 20th!  Please send your child to school on time, wearing appropriate clothes and shoes, a disposable water bottle, sack lunch, and small snack!  

Spring Break:  March 30-April 6

Stanford 10: begins Thursday April 10- Monday April 13

Math:  

• Subtract 100 facts in 5 minutes
• Solve 1 and 2 step word problems and explain their thinking
• Measure to the closest inch and centimeter, describe which measurement tool they would use to measure different objects
• Begin our Geometry unit (side, vertices, symmetry, irregular, and regular shapes)
• Introduce Arrays (multiplication) as repeated addition and how to use a picture to help you solve (columns and rows)

Language Arts:

• Locate facts in fiction and nonfiction text
• Use nonfiction text features to research an animal
• Write and publish a variety of poems
• Write personal narratives, expository text, and persuasive essays

Science:

• Learn about different habitats, animals and plants that live there, and adaptations

Social Studies:

• Learn about the culture of China, Japan, and India
